Okay, so as many of you know, the ROTM for Trucks/Cars has been closed due to out of control fighting and comments. We've decided that for a variety of reasons, it is now time to make permanent changes to the contest.
Why you ask?
Many of you feel that a stock vehicle should not beat a modded vehicle in a contest, but the truth is, the contest is about what people like the MOST. Not which is the fastest, prettiest, or coolest, but what they like the most.
Now, what tends to happen however is that several people will beg/plead/rant/rave to their fellow section members to vote for their vehicle or to vote for someone other than "that" model vehicle so that your type of vehicle wins. It's ridiculous.
We've also had complaints with regards to the voting. We will be hiding the voting once the update is made available. This will force everyone to vote for the vehicle they want to win, rather than wait until the last second to sway 1-2 votes to win. This will encourage more members to participate and keep the contest more relevant. Locking threads to prevent comments simply prevents anyone from voting as well, so that makes it very hard to do.
Another issue that comes is up is lack of support for your fellow Mopar owner. We have had several members who have owned cars or trucks that were amazingly nice or well restored or just simply modded and yet they have not received your votes because they are not what you drive. That is not only not fair, but these same people are also voting for you. This is shameful to every member on this forum that doesn't at the very least, show good showmanship and vote for those vehicles in the other contest.
So, having said all these things to kind of refresh your memory as to some of the problems, what ideas do you have that would improve or fix these and other issues with ROTM? We want to hear your ideas....
Keep in mind, this discussion will remain civil, or you will be removed from the ROTM section permanently. No voting, no running, zero. Polite and honest discussion is more than welcome, but rude and crass behavior will be removed.
Want a custom voting poll and a stock voting poll? Want a rotating monthly setup? (Dak month, Ram Month, SUV month, etc) Want to see the fastest car poll?
All ideas appreciated, respect welcomed...

maybe have a limit on how many times someone can win a year, like 3 times a year, gives everyone a chance to be included.

I thought they already limited it to 1 win per year?
Any way to allow votes but no posts? Like set the posts to be moderated and then just not approve any?
I like the idea of hiding the results. Even after a vote would be good, as then the PMing for votes might start up, and that could be hard to moderate.
I think keeping the poll secret is a good idea, also limiting the ability to run to once a year would be plenty. I think it would be a good idea to have separate polls by either running at the same time or alternating monthly. What I mean is it would be good to have a best stocker, best condition, most modded, fastest, etc. That way everyone with every type of vehicle can have an opportunity to run and maybe win.

As I said before, hiding votes would be nice, but you get into some hot water with it. More than likely, you will have at least one person claim that the whole ordeal is rigged, since no one can see the votes. I think the solution to this would be to figure out a way to show the results in the end, and maybe who voted for which person(?).
I also like locking the thread to a degree. We should allow each contestant one post to advertise their ride a little bit, but limit that post to where it can not be edited by it's author at a later date. This would stop all "vote for me!" bull **** that has happened in the past.
I also like the idea of breaking the votes up along the lines of "power", "show quality", and other categories, but once again it would be flawed. Who is to say that a Ram that has 9 inches of lift, with a stroked 360 would go in the "Power" or "show" category?
Now, I know that all of these questions can (and probably will) be answered with one quote," The moderators/ Administrators have final say.". Once again though, there is a chance for hard feelings.
I have thought about this, and really, I can see one way to partially eliminate the BS that comes along with any kind of poll race.
I say appoint a "person/MOD" out of every section, and allow them to govern a OTM for their section. IE. 3rd gen has their OTM, while 2nd Gen has their own separate OTM. I know, that hard feelings could erupt out of that, but I feel that with a combination of the other ideas floating around, we could cut the **** to a minimal level. From what I have seen, when there is multiple vehicles from one particular make/gen in the same OTM contest, there really isn't a lot of flaming floating around amongst them. It just doesn't seem to be that big of a deal.
Another thing that might be able to come out of this would be the "ride of the year"(?). Maybe at the end of every year, each section's monthly winners get thrown into one poll, and the winner out of that poll will go up against the winners out of the other sections. Not the best idea, but at the moment, that's all I can think of that would bring crossfire between sections gens/makes.
I have one more thing I would like to add about OTM. I feel that what ever is done, if the OTM is brought back, there should be a ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY. Meaning that anyone that starts **** should be removed immediately. Ban/Post approval. What ever.
That's my ideas at the moment, and I might add more once I am fully awake.

If you own more than 1 Dodge vehicle, then you can participate with any of those vehicles. However, if your vehicle wins, it cannot participate again for a year. Also, there was supposed to be a limit on not allowing previous month's contestants to compete in the next month's contest. I think that may have been removed, but will be re-added for sure.

Yes, you are correct.

It sends us notifications and it gets old fast, but is a possibility.

I do not believe the results display until after the contest ends.
^^ Right now the way the poll is set, the results are shown as soon as you vote. Just thought you might want to know.

And this idea has been tossed around before, however it's more or less an issue of getting people to participate. While it's great that the truck owners do it, the car owners are getting left out in the cold with no support from the truck owners. Especially when several of them vote for your trucks. This is why we are trying to improve this contest, not only for the car owners, but also for the forum in of itself.

You can already view who's voted for what currently by clicking on the number of votes for each selection. It will then display who's voted for what. However, even if this result is still hidden, we can still display those results at the end of the month for you. Here's a copy of it...

That shouldn't be happening anyhow and will not in the future. Any advertising like that will be removed and possibly kicked out of ROTM.

If that is to happen, it will be a variety of basic requirements for each type of category that will allow a vehicle to fit in that category. If your a stock vehicle with 9 inches of lift, I'd say your more show then power anyhow....

Not an acceptable answer, however members must remember that some people do not choose to act like adults and thus force us to do it for them.

Not a bad idea, but that's a lot of work for each section, let alone the person doing it. More importantly, you would start to run out of vehicles in some sections as they simply dont have the members to support it. Also, the whole point of this contest is to promote members of the Mopar community, not the Ram section or the Charger section...it's to show off all the members. By having members select vehicles from various sections, it encourages inter-section conversations as well as adding more knowledgable people to a variety of topics.
We could possibly incorporate this idea into a bigger picture, but I think in the long run it will still generate similar problems, if only on a smaller scale.

That part won't be a problem. Any future problems in ROTM will be handled quickly and completely. First strike will be a 3 month ban from ROTM and the second strike will be Post Approval for the whole forum. Obviously, we know what the third strike will be..
I hope these explanations will help anyone else who may wish to add ideas!
there needs to be an impartial group that nominate the rides and then pm the nominees and have them send you pics. no mod list. let people vote off of the pics
