Ignition wire smokes

I have a 1972 plymouth duster The ignition wire smokes right when i hooke up the batterie theres no power to the key when i turn the key wont crank and no power to the distributer

Trace the wire that is smoking or look at a wiring diagram. Find what is causing it to smoke. There is a short somewhere.
