Default First long trip

Just drove from central Florida to upstate NY, just a hair over 1500 miles. No towing, about 350 lbs or so of gear. EVIC read 24.4 mpg, hand calculated to 24.18 mpg. Topped off DEF before I left, showing just slightly below full right now. Estimating I used a gallon, maybe a little less.

Overall extremely pleased...

Yeah, a lot of guys b*tch about DEF, but I'm getting a good 5+ MPG better than guys I know with 2010-2012 6.7s that are SCR without DEF.

I'm averaging about 1300 miles per gallon of DEF and it costs me about $2.70 a gallon at the pump at Pilot/Flying J.

My only gripe with the system is the government mandates if the system fails, you go to limp mode...

I drive my new truck around town mostly but i'm seeing around 16.5 to 17 Mpg, but i have a heavy foot and just stuck some wider rims and tires on my truck also. What gears do you have in your truck? I'm actually gonna be going on the first long trip to the coast with my truck next Thursday so i get to see just highway Mpg.

I see between 18.5 & 19.5 in town. Running 3.42s, all 2013+ Cummins 2500s are only available with 3.42 gearing. To get 3.73 or 4.10 it needs to be a Hemi or 3500 with Aisin transmission.

Since 2014 when Ram went to 50,000 psi frames and coil rears, there is no difference between it and a SRW 3500. However, the 3500 has available options that the 2500 does not, such as Aisin transmission and gearing...

Nice to know. I been trying to figure what i wanna do with my truck after the 36,000 mile warranty is up. I just cant help my modding habit even with this truck. Its awesome compared to the 1500. I have always had gas trucks and now this diesel is awesome straight off the dealership lot. I do have to say my friends all have older dodges running 20+ mpg and thats what i want to get to one day, but i do want 35s maybe even 37s. I have always loved ridding high over everyone and the looks i get from everyone.not to count walking away from my truck and looking back at how awesome it looks.

I know what ya mean. After modding my last few gas trucks and Jeeps pretty heavily, I get asked almost daily what I have planned for this truck.

But I don't have much planned with a 10 year/ 120,000 mile extended bumper to bumper warranty. I'll do a level, wheels and tires when the stockers wear out but that's about it UNLESS emissions stuff become problematic. Even with it being covered I'll be damned if I'm gonna run the truck to the dealer more than once or twice for emissions CELs...
