3rd gen EGR Valve Replacement 5.7 Ram by jnellydodge
This is a DIY thread on how to change out the EGR valve on our trucks with the 5.7
This is an easy project to do, and only takes about 30-60 minutes, depending on your mechanical abilities
What you will need:
New EGR valve (mine was about $70) note: make sure you get BOTH gaskets
8mm socket (or standard equivelant)
10mm socket (or standard equivelant)
Needlenose pliers
Flashlight

-The EGR is located between the front driver side of the airbox and the alternator, its location is indicated by the red circle.
Refer to the picture below for all of the follow steps:
-First, remove the electrical plug by sliding the red tab (green circle) show in the picture below towards the front of the vehicle, gently pull the rest of it out with your needle nose pliers. Now remove the plug from the EGR.
-Next, loosen the bolts that connect the EGR to the exhaust (red circle). Located on the airbox side of the EGR.
-now remove the two bolts from the underside of the EGR indicated in purple (they are TIGHT), and carefully remove the old ERG.
-Before replacing, make sure that all surfaces that will be in contact with the newgaskets are clean.
-Finally install your new EGR valve, in reverse order from the directions above
