I think my Starter went out; it was doing funny thing Hit and Miss on starting...
Now it wont start;
does any body has replaced the starter on 99 Dodge Carvan 3.8 Litter Engine
Any Tips ?
If it's anything like replacing the starter on a 97, it's cake. Wiring harness and a couple screws is all there is to it. My advice though, take it to a starter/alternator shop and have rebuilt. I did, took 15 minutes and cost me $20.
the starter is on the UNDER SIDE of the engine.. believe its towards the front..
if you have a rebuilt starter.. look under the van.. front of the engine.. right between engine and radiator fan.. u should see it..
by the way.. that battery looks kinda old.. before you go replace the starter.. jump it.. and take it to autozone or something like that. and have the battery tested.. it could be your battery.. if its CLICKING (click click click click) when ever you have the key turned to start.. more than likely its the battery.. if it just clicks once.. then it can still be the battery.. but it could also be the starter.. but do yourself the favor.. check the battery first.. reguardless. before you try to unhook the starter.. MAKE SURE TO DISCONNECT the battery.. there are live wires down there.. you dont want it to toutc the frame or the engine
