Default 1994 - liftgate release button problem

Hi all,

The button that opens the liftgate on my 1994 Caravan has stopped working. I can hear a clicking noise coming from behind the left side if the dash when I press the button, but it does not unlock the door.

Anyone seen this behaviour?

Thanks.

Sounds more like the problem is the rear latch. Maybe the solenoid back there or a wire is bad.

Where is the solenoid located?

Thanks.

I have not had the rear hatch apart, but I would look there. Usually with power locks there is a solenoid mounted on the latch mechanism,
or a rod connects it to the latch mechanism.

If you can take the plastic panel off, you may be able to manually get it to release. Then you could get to it easier.

Just changed the solenoid for the lift-gate release on my 94. Easy as pie, the coil was open, you remove the entire rear inside plastic cover (after removing the rear speakers if you have them), and you'll see the solenoid. I ohmed it out and found it open, ordered new, mounted, voila!!! Wife thought I was a genius (Not even close)!! One thing, the plastic cover isn't heavy, but it is flimsy, and awkward to handle without a second set of hands.

Luck to Ya
