Default 2005 Caravan 4 cylinder - accelerator hesitation - Getting Worse

We(my wife)own a 2005 4 cylinder caravan, about 2 or 3 months ago my wife started complaining about a problem with a hesitation while driving. She would be driving and all of a sudden she would try to speed up and if you pushed on the gas pedal nothing would happen for about 1 to 2 seconds then it would be fine. I have taken the caravan into the shop 5 times over the last 2 months and it is the same thing "Sorry sir we can not find anything wrong with your vehicle" The problem is getting worse and it only seems to to happen after the van has been sitting overnight under 50 mph and then after a while it is fine. We almost got rear ended because it happened at a stop light. Do you have any ideas or do you know of any other cases that I can reference?
