I have a 2005 Dodge Caravan that I bought used and only got 1 key. It is one with the remote built in. My question is can I get a regular key cut that will work in the ignition or does it have to have a chip in the key to work?

you can get a key with a chip in it that will work, I believe the head is tan instead of the regular gray key. It will only start your car and open your doors. If you have an alarm it may not work for those features. It's still pretty pricey, I sell them over the counter for about $60 plus programing, but cheaper than the remote key which is $159.

might want to check to see if its even chipped.. i had one in the shop today actually.. it was an 05 .. two keys on the remote.. one like yours.. the other was a standard key no chip.. and it started it just fine.... easy way to check to see if its chipped is to look at the dash... put your key in .. and turn it to the 'on' position.. do you see a security light on the dash? of not.. chances are its not a chipped key.. the one you have could just have the remote keyless built into it
