Default radio/ dvd blowing

has anyone had issues with radio frying? I had a brake controller professionally installed for a tent trailer and it seems 4-5 days after disconnecting the trailer, the radio cooks!!! My local Dodge dealer is blaming it on the solenoid and the wiring guys are claiming it to be possibly a worn alternator....has anyone seen or heard of this before.

Note that the solenoid is more than three feet from the radio and it's power is wired from the ignition fuse. I have now replaced 3 radios and 2 dvd players!!!

Please repond if you have any experience or knowledge with this kind of issue
