RE: High beam - low beam combo?
I don't think you can as I replaced the turn signal/bright ***'y in my wifes old caravan it was sealed up pretty good and it was just a plug in replacement
a friend did that to his 89 sable he had to rewire the lights and ended up using 3 toggle switches one for the parking light another for the reg beams and the third for the highs he said it wasn't worth the time and effort as it didn't give him much more light and he claims the bulbs didn't last as long
hope this helps

RE: High beam - low beam combo?
Thanks for the reply. I was afraid the unit would be the sealed type.
I thought there would be a way to eliminate the low beam wire from the dimmer switch, thereby making the switch only turn the high beams on & off.
If you notice, when driving in low beam mode and you pull the dimmer switch part way back, the highs come on, along with the lows. This condition really lights up the road!
This is the condition I was looking to achieve without having to hold the switch part way back.
Thanks anyway,

RE: High beam - low beam combo?
You can do this with a cheap relay from Autozone or Checker or Walmart. They are packaged for fog lights and cost around $10. You then need to power the "coil" of the relay by the high beam 12v wire, and the contacts (normally open) can then connect the low beam to 12Vpreferably from a 12V source from the fuse box . This way, the light circuit sees no additional power draw and on low beams there will be no feedback to the high beam.
