Default Programming and purchasing keyless remote for 2005 Grand Caravan

We have a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan. We are looking at purchasing a used remote and only two of the three numbers match- the FCC and IC. Would it work? We are looking to save some money for a cheap project and not investing $100 or so. Our current remote has 6 buttons and the one we are looking at only has three... not a problem though as we only want the tailgate button. The used remote has a key that is already cut. Would this be programmable without getting a key made and how do you program it. Don't need to use it in the ignition. Just want to mount it inside by the tailgate to be able to close it after unloading.

Thanks for the help

Default RE: Programming and purchasing keyless remote for 2005 Grand Caravan

sounds like a whole lot of trouble when u can just press the tail gate button that U have already on the 2 good working remotes dont ya think?
But do as u wish and no teh remote u described will not work because of the way they are setup each range of key fobs are set to a van so the range is say 1500 to 2500 range and they all look the same so U might have one thats 6000 and if u program that one the others will not work see what I mean? Plus The only way I know of to program the remotes with the keys in them is by a dealer u haft to have a skim key number to where it programs the key and the remote at the same time.

Thanks for the help. We are just going to use one of our existing remotes and then get a spare key to just open the door with incase we ever need to switch vehicles while at work. Thanks again.
