Default Problems with AC

I have a 99 3.3 voyager with ac problems. The compressor runs but the line is not getting cold. I am familiar withrefrigerant principles. Like low refrigerant. That I will check. But the issue is that it would work fine for a while then warm up. I used to have this issue with an 88 jeep cherokee 4.0 and jeep comanche 4.0. It ended up being the Therm expansion valves. When replaced they worked fine. Does anybody know if there are and issues with expansion valves not opening? Also what is the normal running pressure for 134a?
Thanks for any help.
