I am new here and this seems to be the right place to discuss the caravan issue.
WIfe goes out driving the 2000 Dodge Caravan and it died on her yesterday. After a huge tow bill to get it home and poking around to figure out what is wrong I was stuck.
She sais that it just died when accelerating through a green light from a stop then the battery light comes on. Van will crank but not start now. She sais that it just died when accelerating through a green light from a stop then the battery light comes on. Van will crank but not start now.
Battery shows 14+ volts so I think that tells me that the altenator is charging it. Fuel pump turns on and I have lots of gas that will come out of the schrader valve.
I have spark off the cable that leads to the spark plug.
So I go out and pick up one of them OBD 2 scanners and I plug it in...
Comes back with a code of:
P0340
Camshaft Position Sensor A Circuit
(Bank 1 or single Sensor)
With my weak skills in the search function finding nothing close to this issue here is the questions...
Question:
Where is this gadget for me to check it out and how do I fix this problem?
Is this a comon to go bad and how to fix?
Would this lead to the vehicle to stop running? (obviously but have to ask if it is the head of something bigger)
Is there anything else that would cause this code to appear and something else needs fixing that goes off the camshaft sensor code?
Thanks in advance
