Default Emergency brake light goes off and on?

I have encountered this situation twice in the last two yearsfor about a couple of weeks at a time where the emergency brake light on my 1999 grand caravan goes off and on while I am driving. In somes cases it never comes on and other times it turns on even though the brake is released...shortly after it will turn off and then on again for a while then off and it continues this way until I stop and turn off the car. The brakes in general are fine and make no noise or vibration and the brake fluid level is adequate. Any ideas anyone?

Default RE: Emergency brake light goes off and on?

I would start by disconnecting the switch at the top of the parking brake assembly. The switch connects to ground and completes the circuit when you press the pedal.
