Default 1998 Grand Caravan instrument panel problems

While driving the instrument panel gauges suddenly stop working.The ABS light comes on as well. This shutdown does not seem to affect the vehicle in any other way. Sometimes these gauges suddenly work again while driving. Sometimes, the vehicle needs to be restarted.
Any suggestions as to the problem?
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

This model is known for a problem on the back of the inst cluster. If you serch the forum you can probably find several that give the fix for this.

There isa bad solder connection on the plug that supplies the dash inst panel. Mine had the same problem and it costed me no money to solder it back up and fix the problem.

If you slap the top of the dash over the gauges, will the gauges come on? If they do you probably have to do the solder fix mentioned by richardh05k. Here are some instructions other guy's have posted:
