Default 07 van fog switch & wiring help

Hello. I have an 07 van. It did not come from the factory with fog lights, but there is a dodge accessory fog light kit installed. It has the seperate switch that is in the dash(drilled hole). The cars that came with fogs, had the fog switch built into the headlight switch, and the fogs would work with the marker lights on.
I know i'd have to buy the right headlight/fog switch, but does anyone know what else I'd have to do to get them to work? Is the van pre-wired? would I need a harness? I added fogs to my 05 Ram, and all I had to get was the headlight/fog switch, and a harnes from the pre-wired frame rail to the lights.

any help will be appreciated. thanks
-Brian

ok then, ..........I see quite a few of you looked here, but didn't respond. For those interested, I finally got my answer. If you want the fogs to work like orig equipment, you'll need to buy the headlight/fog harness. List is about $350, plus the headlight/fog switch. Also add a fuse & relay to the underhood fuse box. SO........forget it. They work fine. I just wanted the original look, plus the ability to use marker & fogs without the headlights on. I'll get over it.

Lightbulb Mopar fog light kit

Hi,

I don't know if you have the Mopar fog light installed or some other aftermarket fog lights. If you have the Mopar ones (Hella), if correctly installed (!!), the switch must be placed right beside the headlight switch.

I bought the Mopar fog light kit on ebay and did the installation myself on my GC 2004. When I turn the marker lights ON, the fog lights will also light up . The fog light switch allows me to turn them OFF.

The van is not pre-wired for fog lights so, the Mopar kit includes the mounting brackets, the harness, relay, switch and of course, two Hella fog lights! By the way, the installation requires the complete removal of the front bumper...

Thanks for the reply. They are the Mopar Hella lights. They are hooked up good, and the switch is mounted right next to the headlight switch. My fogs only work with the low beam lights on. With just markers, they won't light up. I can turn them off with the added switch. I was hoping it was pre-wired, so that I could just add the factory switch, but its a lot more involved than that.

Hi,

If you would like to be able to turn your fogs lights ON at the same time as the markers, it is a simple task to do. You only need to move on wire around If that would do it for you, let me know and I will help you to locate this wire and where to splice it up (no sword required!).

Yes. Thanks. I work parts, at a (non-D.M.) dealer. I'm pretty handy. I appreciate it.

Lightbulb

Here it goes:

The operation is performed solely in the engine compartment:

- Disconnect negative battery cable
- Locate the gromet where the hood release cable enters the cabin
Why? Because the fog light switch wires enter the cabin using the same path
- Follow the wire cable and locate the relay (should be bolted next to the fuse box, by the battery)
- Locate the VIOLET wire and follow it, in your setup, it is most probably spliced into the headlamp wire.

- You have to remove the headlamp block to reach the wires (very easy, only 2 screws to remove).

- Disconnect the Violet wire from where it is connected and isolate the other wire using electrical tape.
- Locate the White/DarkBrown wire comming out from the side marker.
- Splice the Violet wire into the White/DarkBrown one.
- Isolate it with electric tape, reinstall the headlamp block and reconnect the battery.

That's it, it should take about 30 minutes or less.

If anything, just let me know...

ok. Tonight, I got in there & disconected the fog light's purple wire from the back of
the headlight. I then connected it to the white/brown wire on the marker light. The fogs
work just like I wanted. They now come on with just the markers...........but............ now my high beams won't come on at all. Not even with a "flash-to-pass". hmmmmm.
I didn't have any more time to spend on it today, but.......any thoughts?

ok....one more thread from me here. I must have looked at it wrong. I got to check it out tonight in the dark, and the high beams work fine. My only issue is this: since the
fogs are now getting power form the marker lights, they don't turn off when I use the
high beams(originally, the power wire was on the low beam bulb-when you used high beams, the low beam and fogs went off). I like that anyway, and since I work at a dealership, I won't have a problem with that at inspection time.
Thanks for your help.
