Unhappy 2005 Grand Caravan Grand Caravan Rear suspension squeaking

Just bought a clean 2005 Grand Caravan with 72k on it. More noticable at low speeds, the rear suspension is squeaking like mad, making a rubber against metal type of sound....like I have a pack of baboons in the back of my van! Had a mechanic take a ride, did not think it was brakes or shocks.

ANYONE have a CLUE what it could be?

Thanks,

Ambrose

Default is it the rear suspension?

we've been having a similiar noise appear when we are turning to the left and right at slow speeds..is it the rear suspension? we have taken it to the dodge dealership 3 times over the last 2 years and they can't tell us what is causing this...i was hoping someone here could help me out...

To me it sounds like A blown shock, there are only so many moving parts it could be. From your description it seems to only do it when the suspension flexes, thats why i believe it is a blown shock. only other thing I could think of is maybe some how your rear axle has shifted slightly so that the tire rubs on the shock mount occasionaly, kinda unlikely though.

I think I get the same noise, and I really can hear it when I have people in the back seat. I took it to a shop and he said it was the leaf springs...so he greased it up and the noise went away...of course not forever. It went away for about 3 months and now its back.

Would anyone know what kind of grease he used?? I should have ask, but I don't live in that area anymore, so I would rather not go all the way back....thanks

Ck the front and rear leaf hangers, be sure the bolts are tight and hangers are not bent. Also ck the spare tire, they do come loose, and the 2nd and 3rd row seats. The lock start to rattle with high mileage.

I have the same noise coming from the back of my 2000 Grand Caravan. To me it sounds like metal on metal banging. Like maybe a bushing or something slipped out of its spot.

I replaced the rear shocks. I dropped the spare tire, checked and lubed everything there. I had my wife drive my van while I crawled around on the floor (not safe, I know, but I had to find out where it was coming from). I could feel banging on the floor in front of the right rear seat of the third row bench. I unlocked and re-locked all of the seats in the back to see if some of those were loose. Next I need to pull the seats out completely.

From under the Van I checked for looseness in relation to the exhaust hangers and system, the trailing arm, the shocks again, the leaf springs and anything else.
I found that one of the plumbing lines going to the rear heater was loose and could bang on the underside of the floor. I placed a home made rubber cushion between the line and the floor.
I can still hear the noise. I'm wondering if maybe something relating to the rear heater hardware behind the panels has come loose.
Thoughts?
