2002 Grand Caravan, Air bag Light on?
#11
I replaced my clock spring today (bought mine at eBay motors for about $35). It probably took me an hour. Just a reminder for anyone trying this, you will need a steering wheel puller which I had to buy. It cost about $26 at a local parts store.
Upon completion my air bag light went off, my horn now works and my cruise control now works. My tachometer is still not working. It looks as though the needle on the tach has gone fully clockwise such that when I turn the key on the needle goes from below zero to zero, where it hits the zero peg and can go no further. I have no idea how this would have happened.
Any ideas on the tach issue?

I learned that there is diagnostic / calibration / instrument panel light check procedure. On my 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan Sport, it worked like this......with the ignition switch off, hold the odometer/trip button in until the odometer window shows a code then release the button. A series of instrument panel light checks and meter calibration checks will follow. Any error codes are supposed to be displayed in the odometer window. After doing this, my tachometer was back in the proper position and seems to be working fine.
I still don't know what caused the problem in the first place.

Air bag
This is an old post but my air bag light has been on and off for a year, now, afraid too take it too the dealer. We only drive 5,000 kms per year, so i don`t feel unsafe.. Would somebody mind giving me the steps in changing the clock spring, i think i will try it, sounds like a fairly easy thing too do....
also.. i am on EBAY. can somebody that bought the clockspring off EBAY give me an idea, what one i need, so i dont get the wrong part, maybe send a link.I see some but need too find reasonable shipping too Canada..After doing a search one dealer on there will ship too Canada , most you cannot send them an email,The one dealer wants 28.00 shipping which is Robbery.
Thanks

And this goes for any one, Yes the scanner are not cheap. But friendship isn't either. I have made some friends on the forum that live in the area. If they ask me if I could scan their car or truck, I will not say no. So what Im getting at, make a friend at dodge dealer and they in turn will help you. Or if you know someone that has a scanner, ofter them something.

Is it a special scanner or just ODBII? I've had good luck with my bluetooth ELM327. This one is $16.
