Default Knocking sound when I shift to reverse

I have a 2001 Grand Caravan AWD. This winter, i got stuck in the snow and when i put my van in reverse to go back some and then in drive so I could get a little more distance to "run" I finally got my van out of the snow.
Now, whenever I put my van in reverse there is a consistent knocking/thumping sound. This only occurs when i put it in reverse and doesn't make any sounds out of the ordinary while driving forward. It originally started just in the back, but now it's moved up to the front passenger's side.
I haven't gotten to take it in to get it checked because i'm worried about the cost of getting it fixed ...lol.
Does anyone have any ideas what it could be?
