Default 1994 GC Trans Help (If you Read Please Respond)

I have a 1994 Dodge Grand Caravan SE (I know stating the odvious) it has the 3.3 liter engine and 4 speed auto tranny. The trans will shift fine until it gets to overdrive then it acts like it wants to shift up but dosen't. it will do this for about three tries and then gives up and knocks out until I slow down enough to get it to go into first then won't come out until I put it back in park turn off the engine and start it back up. I can drive it in Drive with no problem. Reverse works good as well. I was wondering if it could be one of the sensors sticking out of the side of the tranny. If I knew that could be the issue I would buy a few of them and start swaping and road testing. Both AutoZone and Advance list 2 differnet ones so I thought one of each till I found the problem. Is this a course I should take or should I just look for a new Tranny? Thanks for the help. And please resopond even if you don't know for sure. Thanks again.

Go to automotive forums.com and click on dodge caravan and then red the post about transmission issue and sensors, you may not be happy wityh what is said and I can tell you what $2400 will buy you for a '96 Caravan with the A604 transmission.

If you are loosing 4th gear, then you may have a broken snap ring that holds the overdrive/4th gear clutch pack together.
