I have an '08 SXT 4.0 liter Caravan. Yesterday when I took my foot off of the accelerator after accelerating around someone who backed out in front of me, the engine idle did not come back down but continued to race at about 4500 rpm. Applying the brake had very little effect because the engine continued to race. I finally put the car in neutral, stopped and shut the engine off. Upon restart the idle was back to normal. I took it to the dealer and it showed no engine codes and they had no explanation or suggestions. Anyone have any ideas? This could be a real safety issue.
Shortly after I bought the vehicle, the engine stopped while I was driving down the road, all the dashboard lights came on and I rolled to a stop with no power brakes or steering. I'm starting to worry about the safety of the van. It has 6500 miles.

I took it to the dealer the same day. They kept it for 2 days, said they couldn't duplicate the problem, the computer showed no codes, this could not happen, and ended it there.
