Question Is it worth it??????

I acquired ($100.00) a '92 caravan. It sat idle for 4 years. I replaced the brake lines, battery, all filters, dist., plugs, wires, etc. myself. I have a total of $350.00 or so invested. The engine runs flawlessly and the interior is mint. Some minor rust on bottom of the doors. The tranny is the issue. It's a 3sp (A670 trans). Needs pump, plates, soleniod, seals, etc.. The tranny shop (Millex) quoted me at $1150 for a new one.

Is the van worth it...looking for some advice here. Thank you.

Shop around.
Some shops will give you a "used car lot" rebuild that carries a thirty day warranty instead of a 1 year-12,000 mile (or greater) warranty. Those will be cheaper but will only replace parts that show signs of possible failure.

It all depends on what you have planned for the van.If you're going to take it cross country then a complete rebuild might be the way to go.An around town beater would qualify for the used car special in my book.
I'm in the process of trying everything besides the used car special on my A604 to see if it can be fixed without going inside.(bump shift and OD lockup problems) So far ,no real lasting luck.A full rebuild was quoted to me at between $1,400 and $1,500.The UCL special is going to be $800.
