Default Transmission stays in low gear

Have A 1997 Grand Caravan has trans codes #P0700 and P1776. Stays in low gear some times, then check engine light will come on. Stop and then start driving then transmission shifts ok, check engine light will eventually go off. Transmission has been shifting with a jerk ,when shifting to higher gear. Trans fluid is full and clean and has regular service.

Will fix this my self if I know what parts to buy.

Thanks so Much, Billy Goat

Valve body and a TCM flash. If you want the PDF file for code P1776, you will need to send me an email address.

My 99 caravan (3.0L) is doing the exact same thing and throwing the same codes. I've read some things about this here and there, but mostly the finger is pointing to the solenoid pack on the front of the tranny. Is this the component you are referring to?

I found the connector on the soleniod pack full of oil. I cleaned it and it seemed to help, but then the problem came back after a couple of months.
