Default 99 GC clunking noise front end

How do I tell if the front sway bar links are bad in a '99 GC with 130k? There is a clunking noise coming from both sides that usually occurs at low speeds while backing out of a parking space, etc. Based on what I read here, the sway bars are vertically mounted. I can rotate both bars with a wrench with the car on the ground. Are these difficult to replace?

hold the sway bar near the link kit n move it up n down if it makes some noise change em both.............easy to change a ratchet n pair of vise grips to squeeze the lil rubber boot preventing it from turning.....

Are you referring to grabbing the long horizontal sway bar and move it up and down to see if the vertical link moves? On a '99, looks like the passenger side is easy to change but drivers side link bolt on the bottom is in a tough spot? Any idea if I should be able to access if I put the car on jacks? Thanks Marty for the help.

Sometimes there stuck tight in rust and crap....but with a ratcheting key and a good pair of vise grip to squeeze where the rubber boot is......replace the vise grip tighter as it goes.........

If you have access to an impact gun and the good swivel socket you will save time..........Heating them up is good too if possible.....

To check if its loose you hold the sway bar where: the lower part of the link kit attaches and move it up n down........ youll feel the loose for sure
