Default can rear brakes be put on backwards?

Got a 05 dodge caravan got rear brakes @1 year ago. Took van in for safety inspection and the dealer tells me I need new brakes becuase they were in backwards. Is this possible?

on drum brakes yes if they are put on backwards, the primary shoe and secondary shoes can be reversed and frequently are. but they won't just wear out that fast. who installed them a year ago? take it back to them and raise hell. the primary shoe is on the front and is shorter than the secondary shoe which is rearward on the backing plate. federal laws call for a minimum lining thickness of 1/16"

can you believe the dealer put them on? That garage is closed, the other dodge dealer won't honor any of thier warranty work. Annoying to say the least. Paying for 2 brake jobs.

Was the other shop a dodge dealer? If it was call 1-800-992-1997.
