Default HELP: P0700 check engine code

I have a 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan 3.3 engine and about six months ago the check engine light came in but everything is running fine. I took the car to a shop and they came back with the P0700 code. I changed the transmission filter and oil, but the light came back. The transmission runs fine and shifts as if nothing is happening. Somewhere I read that someone swapped the an EATX relay with a similar EATX (fog lights) relay. I checked the fuse-relay box and I found a "EATX Safety Shut Down Relay" and the EATX Fog Lights relay. Are these the ones that the guy was referring to ? Any ideas about swapping these to fix the problem (check engine light) ?

Can you be a bit more explicit ? I already paid for a shop scanner report, which stated P0700 code, meaning transmission control system. Troubleshooting indicated:

1. Lack of fluid within the system or so.
2. Problems with the Solenoid pack.

As said, I replaced the transmission filter and oil, but the check engine light still came back. Before going to option 2 which is to replace the solenoid pack, I was wondering if replacing the so called "EATX Shut Down Relay" would do any good as I read somewhere else. Please remember that the transmission is currently shifting ok without going into limp mode, and this has been going on for the last 6 months. Everything else is working fine.

Information for everyone, When you turn the key on and off three times and leave it on. The P-Codes are that is stored in the PCM are codes that turn the mil lite on. In other words, when the transmission goes into limp in. You will only get a P0700 code that is stored in the PCM. The codes you need to get for the problem you are having is in the TCM. The PCM will not give a P0944 code or P0720 codes, but will give you P0406,P0300,P0206,or P0455.

Everyone gets all kinds of excited when they get engine codes for transmission problems then start chasing those codes... which are basically useless and vague. These Autozone & $30/code readers are totally useless for trans problems. Infact on a chrysler, you can cycle the key and get the same vague information without going to autozone or buying a code reader. a real scanner it the only thing that will be accurate.

Sorry, Guys....

I am not an expert in this matter much less a full mechanic...just a standard Saturday Home Mechanic. To make things worst, I just bought one of those computer scanners (Scantool OBDLink with ScanMaster Software) that connects to a PC via USB. Haven't had the time to play much with the scanner, but I did get the P0700 code with this thing. Maybe I screwed up and dump my money in a worthless thing. My fault. I erased the code using the computer.

Today, I figured out that swapping the EATX Shut Down Relay with the Fog Lights Relay (non-existing lights) would do no harm at all as these relays are exactly the same so the only thing that I need to do is wait to see if the check engine light and the P0700 code comes back.

I don't have the vehicle service manual so I would not know what are the other TCM codes you are referring to. On the other hand, please remember that the car is not and has not gone into limp mode ever.

well if yall aint got a problem then dont worry about it. but them scanner software things really dont give the hole picture and i never seen them give any other info outside the pcm. like no trnas, body, abs etc.
