2- code reader is just gettin out codes and a scanner does that and allot more like telling yall readings on stuff like sensers like whats the water temp exactly and a good scanner can read trans info to let yall know what the trans is doing and how wells shes working with stuff like cvi's. i got myself a old snappy scanner for pritty cheap from a shop in town that got a newer one. i tell yall what, it's the best couple hundy i spent. saved me allot of headaches and made me $$ enouf that i can pay my bills most months
