You take it to a quality transmission shop and have someone that has the tools, knowledge, experience and compentency to return your sanity

P0743 is a TCC solenoid circuit for a 31TH trans. ck for loose connection at the trans.

This is an example of how people get there hands on a code reader figuring they will now be a technician. BTW the year and engine is in his profile just like your 1996 avenger

hello guys i just fix the problem it was a tcc solenoid attach to the valve body !
no codes no lights on !
but now the van its not shifting gears it only stays on 1st gear !
i dont now what else to do !!

It maybe the governor if you have three speed trans. I didn't see anywhere that trans was shifting. Just the transmission was driving him nuts. But we still don't know year and engine size, that would help to know. So we can help you.

I don't know that the year or engine size would matter. The internals of all the 3speeds is basically identical. and except for the case, pretty much the same as a 904 and 727 (2 clutch packs, 2 bands a one way roller clutch, governor and throttle vavle). But I think it would be nice to know if it shifted before he "fixed" it. Because if he pulled the valve body to service the TCC, then there's a whole can of worms that have just been opened.

yeah it shifted till 3 gear it wasnt taking the overdrive before changing the tcc solenoid ! i took it to a shop and they told me maybe it the transmision !
any help ? thank u guys !!!
