Default P0562

So my wifes Battery light came on today while she was driving. Then all the dash lights came on and acted wierd. So I had her shut the car off and then turn it on and got the traditional click, click click sound when a battery is dead. I went to jump her and follow her to napa to have the alt and battery tested. Everything tested fine according to the napa tech. Let her drive off and the light came on about 10 mins later. Funny thing is I shut the van off and it started up every time. So after work I get my DTC code reader and and get the following code : P0562 System voltage low
Now the Freeze Frame Data reads as follows

Fuel Sys 1 CL
Fuel Sys 2 NA
Calc Load(%) 40.39
ECT(˚C) 93
STFT B1(%) 7.81
LTFT B1(%) -3.91
MAP(kPa) 50.00
Eng RPM 2116
Veh Speed (km/h) 37
Spark Adv(O) 35
IAT (˚C) 21
TPS(%) 25.10

Im going to check typical grounds and wires etc, put the battery on a charger overnight see what happens...

Thanks.......

Ok and this is on a 2004 Dodge Caravan SE with a 2.4L DOHC

About a week ago the wife was at the kids school waiting for our daughter to finish with track,
The van was not running but my oldest son was watching a dvd with one of those portable dvd players plugged into the cig lighter and had the fan on, When my daughter finished my wife naturally tried to start the van and got nothing. I had to go give her a jump and have had this problem occure ever since??? Any ideas??

Welcome to DF Symptom:
P0562-BATTERY VOLTAGE LOW
When Monitored and Set Condition:
P0562-BATTERY VOLTAGE LOW
When Monitored: The engine running. The engine speed greater than 1150 RPM.
Set Condition: The battery sensed voltage is 1 volt below the charging goal for 13.47
seconds. The PCM senses the battery voltage turns off the field driver and senses the
battery voltage again. If the voltages are the same, the code is set. One trip Fault.
POSSIBLE CAUSES
GOOD TRIP EQUAL TO ZERO
B+ CIRCUIT HIGH RESISTANCE
GENERATOR GROUND HIGH RESISTANCE
GENERATOR OPERATION
(Z1) GENERATOR FIELD GROUND CIRCUIT OPEN
(K20) GEN FIELD CONTROL CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND
(K20) GEN FIELD CONTROL CIRCUIT OPEN
PCM
TEST ACTION APPLICABILITY
1 NOTE: Ensure the Battery is in good condition. Using the Midtronics
Battery Tester, test the Battery before continuing.
NOTE: Inspect the vehicle for aftermarket accessories that may exceed the
Generator System output.
Turn the ignition off.
NOTE: Ensure the generator drive belt is in good operating condition.
NOTE: Inspect the fuses in the PDC. If a fuse is found to be open use the
wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors for
damage.
Ignition on, engine not running.
With the DRBIIIt, read DTCs and record the related Freeze Frame data.
Is the Good Trip Counter displayed and equal to zero?

I do have the complete test on a PDF file. If you would like the complete file, i will need an email address to send it to.

Ok checked the fuse and found one fuse to be discolored and where the sodder is to be rough in apperance.

I attached a picture of two fuses, the one of the left looks rougher and not as smooth as the one on the right. The fuse on the left came from the RAD/Fan slot and I just had to replace the blower motor cause it stopped working. Will see how it runs in the AM and post more results...

Light still comes on, Whats funny is it doesnt come on during the short drives, It comes on for the long 20+ 30+ mile drives.

Gahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh FPITA electrical problems.

Master Tech please explain to me what
GOOD TRIP EQUAL TO ZERO
B+ CIRCUIT HIGH RESISTANCE
GENERATOR GROUND HIGH RESISTANCE
GENERATOR OPERATION
(Z1) GENERATOR FIELD GROUND CIRCUIT OPEN
(K20) GEN FIELD CONTROL CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND
(K20) GEN FIELD CONTROL CIRCUIT OPEN
PCM

Keep in mind I am used to working on a 1973 Ford Bronco and this Caravan is giving me nightmares! LOL

If the pcm goes a key cycle and does not see a problem it registers a good trip. Three good trips in a row and it will turn the check engine lamp off for that code.

High resistance is usually caused by corrosion in the wire, connection, somewhere.

Is the battery original, you could have a battery crapping out like some crap floating around in the battery and ocassionally shorting out a plate. The original battery's weren't very good. When in doubt, try a new battery. If you can check the output voltage at the battery when the light comes on, you can see if you have an intermittent altenator issue also.
