Default Change Oil Light too agressive - 2010

Purchased a 2010 GC with 4.0L in March 2010. 1st oil change at 2300, and now with mostly highway driving, the COL is on at 5700? I can understand the 1st early change, but can the COL be programmed to what the manual suggests as opposed to what the dealer would like you to do? I imagine the next item will be to change the headlight fluid.....

The dealer doesn't program when the light should come on. And you can reset it and change the oil whenever you want. It's like complaining when your low washer fluid light comes on or low fuel light.

Thanks for the info. Seems strange that my Buick has no trouble going 6k to 8k between the Oil Change Light and my wife's Dodge can barely get to 3k. I could understand if she did mainly intown driving, but this is mostly highway with a 11 mile trip.

Mystery solved. When you leave the dealership, just reset the oil light yourself. Turn on key, hit gas pedal 3 times. Turn off and then start. Light now comes on at random mileage. Also found it interesting that when a friend of mine purchased one of those maintenance packages, the recommended oil change frequentcy magically changed to 10k.
