High Milage caravan
I have been driving caravans for 20 years, and have done all my own mechanical work
I bought my first Caravan in 1991, I put 242,000 Km on it (original 3.0lt) and finally retired it in 2003 when the transmission went for the second time. Motor ran excellent, body was great, but the paint was peeling off in sheets (known Dodge problem).
I bought my second Caravan in 1999, a 1997 Sport 3.3 lt with 40K on it. It's still going with 332,000 KM, just putting a timing chain on it now. Body is still great (Canadian winters), thanks to regular Rust Checks.
My third caravan is a 2005 with 530,000 KM (five hundred and thirty thousand). Motor is getting a little tired (noisy), time for a rebuild. It's only 6 years old, I suspect it may see a Million KM's before it's retired.
If you want to keep your Caravan running for 500 K +, three things to remember...
1) regular engine and transmission maintenance.
2) Keep the rust away from the body, Rust Check Yearly if in northern climates.
3) Buy lifetime warranty on front end parts (tie rod ends, ball joints, swab bar link kits). It will save you a bundle $$.

97 Grand Caravan
I bought a 97 Grnd Caravan LE with 135k Km (84k miles) on it in 2002. I beleive the tranny had been done under warranty. It had the 3.8l in t. I only ran synthetic in ad did regular filter changes. The body was worse for wear, but ran like a top. I would get up to 30Mpg on the highway (according to the console computer) Unfortunately, this past Sept, someone stole it out of my driveway. Insurance gave my $800 for it, saying tha with 410k Kms (256k miles) o it, it wasn't worth anything. I had hoped to hit 500k Kms (312k mies) on it before retiring it in a fw years. I just picked up a 05 T&C Limited with 241k Kms (151k miles) and hope to have it for the next 10 years.
