My idea is there is something wrong with the brake system some where. I'm going to guess, you don't have a scan tool which could retreive the code causing the ABS light to illuminate?

Well, ABS light, u might have to take it to a shop with the proper equipment to look into it, probably will charge you. Unless ur ABS fuse is blown, check inside the fuse box.

As for the brake light, you can figure out where is it coming from. 3 things that can turn it on,
Parking brake - make sure it is fully released
Brake fluid low - Check level, and Unplug the switch, cycle the key, see if light goes away.
ABS module request - Unplug the ABS module, cycle the key, see if brake light remains ON, ABS module is below ur Brake Fluid reservoir.

All of above are simple task you can do, other wise, u'll need more tool for the job. Brake is #1 safety item, Don't ignore it! good luck.

Doesn't the differential pressure switch also cause the Brake light to come on?

I thought they are built into the ABS unit. Maybe I am thinking about the newer car. But that usually only happens when something is leaking, no? But he said the Base brake system works ok.

Yes - The brakes do work. Cheked the parking brake too...all ok there. I recetly moved from NY to Massachusetts. I failed ispection because of the brake, ABS, and airbag dashboard lights and rust on the rear rocker panels.

I got a scan tool and three DTC brake codes were present. #9 - Hydraulic pump circuit malfunction, ABS under voltage, and hydraulic valve malfunction. Since the ABS fuse was corroded, I believe that is the smoking gun. I only cleaned the fuse. I'll replace it and clean the socket to see if I can then reset the code.

Amazing, Massachuetts fails inspection b/ air bag light is on. Who in the heck are they to determine if you want to drive without airbags? What about the year of cars that had no air bags....Government is really representing as some kind of bully.

Or seatbelts. I suppose if I drove my 1955 Pontiac thru the state, I'd be arrested.

Default 2001 Grand Caravam ABS light on

I had an ABS light on the dashboard. My scan tool told me it was an electrical circuit problem. Checked all fuses -- all ok. I found corroded connector and a broken wire under the fuse box. Repaired the wire, and the problem is solved. Thanks to everyone who contributed to my original post.
