GC 2005 - Something is draining the Battery, where do i start ?
Hello Guys
Ill try to make it short, GC 2005, 180k km and I have the V6 3.3 engine. It is fairly equipped, including DVD player. The problem started couples months ago, i tought the battery needed to be replaced, but apparently there is something draining it while parked for couple of days. I measured the draw with an ampmeter and i have 900ma, wich i believe is way too high. When i pull the IOD fuse it drops to 70ma. What would be acceptable for this type of vehicule ? No repair was done on the vehicule in the last 6 months, so it's not a pinched wire or something like that. I am electronic technician but i just don't know where to start. If i bring it to Dodge it will cost me an arm to get this fixed.
What would be the most common cause, any help is welcome.
Thanks

make sure some light isn't on all the time like glove box, anything plugged into the power recepticals, sounds like you found that it's something on IOD fuse circuit. get a wiring diagram. maybe it's the alternator, maybe a computer, underhood light? map light? visor light? button stuck on power seats? audio system amplifier (s) not shutting down..... these are all common things I've come accross.

Thx mopar, i will defenitely check all those this week-end, sounds like a lot of fun.
I never tought it could also be caused by the alternator.
Can it be a bad relay in the fuse box (under the hood) ?
There is so much stuff on the IOD fuse it will be PITA to troubleshoot !

start pulling Fuse off the fuse box one by one, see which fuse you pull will drop the current draw.
