Default 2011 GC, Grinding Brakes after 6000kms??

We bought the Van in May of this year, the dealership told us they had put new breaks in it. When we got home I pulled the tire and checked, and in fact they looked new. Today my wife gets home and tells me to go for a ride. There is grinding noises when she breaks. Is it possible to have gone through a pad that quickly?

Now I have replaced disc breaks on all my previous cars without issues, but I'm wondering if its worth bringing in? Is there any sort of warranty for this stuff? I'm going to at least pull the tire off tomorrow to inspect it.

I knew they where not great when I got the van, but damn .... 6 months? no waaaaay......

well, the front has 3yr/36k miles waranty with $100 co-pay, new pad and rotors, assuming u live in US/Canada. but not the rear.
Which one do you need?

If you are doing it urself, just make sure you Clean the bracket the pad sits on, Above and Under the metal clips. Make sure the brake pad slides freely from the Caliper bracket, most of the time, the problem is the brake pad got stuck on the caliper bracket due to rust build ups.

and for the rear brake, it uses a twist in style, just look up Youtube videos on Caravan brake for guidance.

You are far from alone in your grief. Brakes in general have been a headache for Chrysler on their 5th generation vans as you can read here:http://www.lemonlaw.com/wordpress/do...rake-problems/ and as I have been reading on this and several other forums. I managed to find one reference for a warranty extension on front brake pads 0n 2011s but there was no narrative.

hmmm, K I'll bring it in. It only has 52000 kms on it (46000kms when we got it) or 32000 Miles.

I believe its the front brakes. I thought the warranty reads that its under 12000 miles for this stuff?

any yah, again, I knew they where bad ... but this is baaaaad. I had a Chevette with better brakes when I was 17 ... lol.

I just took it in, but by the way they where talking I doubt ... heavily ... that anything is going to be covered.

Perhaps the Calipers ... if they are the problem. Ugh ... What are the costs on the brakes and rotors with Dodge?
