Default 2012 grand caravan fuse/battery issues

Have had our van for about 8 months no problems. This winter side door motor cable broke. Dealer removed to make manual as part back ordered. Next day auto doors do not work and auto locks do not work. checked and fuse blown. put new in and blew instantly. Also battery light now comes on every so often till tonight. Sitting in store waiting for wife and radio shuts off, battery light comes on, blower shuts off, alot of warning lights appear on dash. Try driving home quick van dies. LEt sit and starts up again but then goes thru same thing. Wondering if this is all tied to the door, fuse and not battery not charging?? Any ideas!!

I suggest going back to the dealer and explaining what is happening and when it started. Could be a short. The fuse blowing right away again is an indication of a problem with that circuit.

Did bring it to the dealer. They scanned it and is loaded with error codes. So going to keep it another day to see what is going on. In my opinion think the door is shorting out things.

hobvan,

I'm sorry to learn about the trouble you're having with the sliding doors. The dealer's ability to duplicate the concern and recognize the codes set will help the diagnosis process along and find the root cause of your issue.

Keep us posted on the results if you can.

well dealership ran codes and replaced the alternator. the part for the door finally came in and was to be replaced early this week. till today. battery light came on again and 2nd alternator lasted two days. thinking this is got to be linked to the door motor and the lock fuse blowing out all the time. any thoughts?

hobvan,

Have you been back to the dealership since the failure? Has a connection been made between the battery light and alternator?

the 2nd time the new alternator hook ups were loose. not tightened by dealer shop. tightened and battery light off. now back to other dealer to get door and locks fixed that started everything. they fixed door. but locks still out fuse blowing and wipers wont shut off now with door hooked up. so three days later get call that our computer is now out. first dealer and myself thinking that when door was disconnected. it shorted out things. as locks quit working two days later. then alternator went out about three weeks later. as door part was back ordered for 6 weeks.

hobvan,

Which computer component is being recommended by the dealer? If a short has occurred, have the door lock and wiper components been compromised, will they too need to be replaced?
