Year. Motor. All would be helpful. I would start by checking your fuel pressure. Sounds like my symptoms when my pump was dying.

sounds like symptoms of a bad ignition module to me (it gets really hot when you drive and the inside connections open up)

This is what I was told on mine when the pump was getting bad. Ended up testing the pressure and finding it was leaking down pressure and as it would get warm the pump wouldn't produce enough pressure.

Mine would run and drive great for about 10mi, then it would start losing power, studdering, backfiring. Then it would die. Then it would have to cool for about an hour before it would start again.

I dealt with this issue for about 2 weeks and 4 shops before I took it into my own hands and found the fuel issue.
