Default Where's my cabin air filter?

I have a 2004 Grand Caravan 3.3 and bought a cabin air filter for it. I researched and found that it goes in a "box" under the passenger dash - under the glove box. But when I got under there to open the box, it can't be opened. There are no latches, hinges, screws... nothing. What's up with that?

They don't all come with a cabin filter.

A guess? If you have auto temp control then you have a filter. Manual control, no filter. Yes, no anybody? Go ahead, blow me out of the water.

I have a 2002 GC Sport with manual climate controls, zone sliders. I just changed my Cabin filter for most likely the first time it has ever been done.
It was damp, smelly and weighed twice or more as much as the new one. Yuk!

Its located under the glove box, or say, or the passengers feet.

The filter lays right next to the coil so the flow must be restricted rather you run recirculate or not.

The Flow is much BETTER in both modes and she is cooling lots better. When you pul it down you will have to bend it a little, and the same for the new one going in. Super Easy Job.

Models equipped with Dual-Zone and Three-Zone A/C systems include a dust and odor air filter.

I have worked on home HVAC for several years. To design an auto HVAC with no filter is either idiotic or devious. For the manufacturer not to do a recall and fix should be a Federal criminal offense.

Recall and federal offense for not installing a filter? You must be extremely bored.

No boredom here. I recognize deviousness, greed and unscrupulous manufacturing when I see it. I think you would be bored if the design and manufacturing were done in such a way to insure proper and long lasting performance.. Once again, I say only an idiot or an unscrupulous company would sell any type of HVAC system without a preinstalled air filter. Why don't you remove the air filter from your home and/or office HVAC? I assure you, it will operate just as efficiently as an automobile HVAC system that doesn't even come with one preinstalled.

If you have hands not out of the ***, you can put the filter yourself, for this you will need to cut a hole for filter and buy a filter door (04885463AA).

prepare

I am perfectly aware that a cabin air filter can be added. However, in my case, it would be like closing the barn door after all the livestock has escaped.
The problem I'm having is that I bought a used Dodge Caravan without being aware that the person that purchased it new lacked the intelligence to realize that
choosing the cabin air filter option would have been using good common sense! I am also peeved that the manufacturer lacks the morals to make a cabin air filter standard equipment.
The AC coils in my van are already so gunked up that it doesn't work. I can not afford to get that fixed and I doubt my personal ability to fix it myself, so adding a cabin air filter at this point is useless.
Have a nice day.
