Default 2009 GC stalling/shutting off while driving

Howdy - I need help figuring out what is causing my 2009 GC 4.0L to shut off/stall while I'm driving it. It has just about 98.5K miles, most of which have been problem free. I change the oil about every 3K miles and have it in for all the other recalls I've been made aware of. Here are the symptoms:

It seems to happen when I'm approaching a stop or slowing, usually going less than 35-40MPH. I know something is wrong by feel because I lose power steering and brakes. The dash shows the RPMs are at 0 and the ESP light is on. I haven't noticed the key fob has moved from the ON position, but I'm not entirely sure. I don't think this is related to the L25 recall, only because I took it in a few weeks ago after it shut off/stalled the second time to have the dealer read any codes. They didn't find anything related to the recall. It doens't seem to matter if the engine is cold or warm.

So the question is: what could be causing the van to shut off/stall without leaving a code to point to the problem?

I hate to offer my ideas out of fear of limiting other possible ideas, but here's what I've considered so far:
Bad EGR valve - I did get a p0406 code today
Bad PCV valve
Bad crankshaft position sensor
Bad throttle body
Valve sticking

Thanks everyone!

Default We had the same issue

We have a 2010 GC SXT 4.0 that had the exact same stalling problem. Dealer diagnosed fluctuating voltage in the EGR valve. Replacing the valve completely resolved the stalling problem.

Thanks for the info! After reading you post I decided to take it to a mechanic (not the dealer) to have them check out the egr valve. I could probably replace it myself, but I'd feel better have them look at it, in the event it's something else.

Surprise! The problem is back.
Does anyone know if a coolant leak could damage an EGR valve? I'm having the same symptoms and the leak was just above the valve. Thanks!
