Do you know if you have the 41TE or 62TE transmission? If you have a 41TE I would guess either the sensor or the wire is broken inside the output sensor connector.
2008 was the last year for the 41TE transmission. Some had a 41TE and some had the 62TE. If you send me the last 8 of you Vin thru a PM. I can you what you have.
Its definitely a 62TE. I have a new sensor for that transmission. From what I read there is an input and output sensor. I'm guessing I want to change the output? Thoughts?
Any transmission shift problems? Not at all sure about 5th gen vans but generally if the output speed sensor is toast you will have speedo and shift problems. Both use output sensor data.
2010 was the last year the 41TE was used in the Grand Caravans, and always mated to the 3.3L engine (actually the transmission was designated 41TES by then).
The vans with the 3.8L, 4.0L, and 3.6L engines all came with the 62TE transmission.
The image below from page 23 of 2010 Grand Caravan brochure shows that the 4 speed was still available in 2010: 2010_grand_caravan.pdf
The problem appears to be somewhat intermittent as the speedometer was functioning but with some jerkiness today. My wife reported an incident that sounded like limp mode but it had never recurred! Could it be PCM gremlins?
Is the check engine lamp on? If you do have a 62TE, the input sensor is interchangeable with the output sensor. Remove the output sensor and inspect for debris. Or you have a bad wire connector.
