Exclamation 07 caravan does not start

Hi all

I just purchased a 07 caravan with 250 thousand on the body for 200 bucks. Now the issues...... it does not show a box on the shift indicator. Even when I run thru the gears I get nothing on the display. With that also a red light on the right corner of dash. The obd2 does not work as well. From what owner told me it just stop runing out of nowear. I just need guidance all help is appreciated

Wow, really? Get a shop manual and start troubleshooting. It could be anything. Start with the basics. You say it won't start. Is it turning over?

Checked all the fuses? Did it ever run since you've had it?

All indications the PCI data bus is down. This bus allows all the electronic modules in the van to communicate with each other. Unfortunately these modules are all over the van and the problem could be anywhere in the circuit.

Your red light is likely the anti-theft system telling you it has failed and as stated most likely because the data bus is down. If that's the case the engine will crank, start then stall within a second or two. That's the engine immobilizer circuit doing it's job because it thinks you're steeling the van. After a number of start attempts it won't crank at all.

What to do. A network capable scanner would be ideal but the bus is killing the OBD port. That leaves visual inspections. Here's more info to get you started: http://www.atraonline.com/gears/2010.../2010_5_60.pdf May help to get more info from the previous owner like what work was done just prior to the problem.

Not sure about 07s in particular but going by posts about earlier 4th generation vans, bus problems have been caused by sliding door wire harnesses, wire harnesses running in the floor under the carpet, wire harnesses in the engine compartment. May want to take a closer look at the IPM wires and connections. Look in particluar for damaged white with violet stripe wires. Those are the bus wires.
