Default Better handling?

Anybody done any suspension mods for better handling? I realize that this is not exactly a sports car and I'm not talking about setting it up for racing, but....

I thought that I might try trading out some of the old rubber pieces with polyurethane components as well as seeing if I could get a rear sway bar on mine. I was hoping that this might help the "driveability" when I had a load in back or when I was towing my boat. Heck, I'm even thinking of going up to 17" rims....

What have the rest of you done or tried? I'm looking for opinions on good mods and even bad ones that would be a waste of time and money. What advice can you share?
