Default New to forum-just bought an 05 Caravan-did I do alright?

Hi. I just bought this 05 Caravan Special Edition SXT with 19,800 miles.. http://www.autotrader.com/***/vdp.js...id=82970&car_y

I liked that It has grey two tone leather and DVD player and alloy 5 stars. The dealer was asking $18,900 and I paid $16,300 plus ttt.

Did I get a fair price? Is there anything I should be on look out for. It is still under bumper to bumper warranty.

Watch the front brakes. My 2005 eats them up like crazy. The original set lasted less than 15K. (I normally do 40k on a set of front pads)

thanks. I'll check them out. I plan to rotate the tires, so I'll peek at the pads. I have drum rear, how long should those last?

thats a really good deal, about the brakes.. when you replace the front ones, just use semil-mettalic, or organic pads, and you should have a normal life

16K for an '05? Sounds like a pretty good deal, unless it has transmission or motor issues, in which case you may consider retrofitting your drive train like this guy did:

No more tranny or engine problems here... and it doesn't burn a drop of gas. Ever.

nice mod.
I guess I'll wait for warranty to run out before I do that one.

Chuck,
I have disks in the rear. I'm at 20K and so far, so good. On my last Caravan (97) the rear drums went over 85K.

thanks.

one more question, is changing the front pads pretty basic on this vehicle if you've done disc brakes before?

Yes, it's a snap. If you have the right tools, it shouldn't take any more than 15 minutes. Just make sure you get to them before they ruin the rotors. That was my mistake. I never expected them to go at 15K and when my wife told me they were making noise, I said, don't worry, it will go away.
