Default 1990 3.3L V6 Dodge Caravan heater problem

Hi, folks

I recently replaced the heater control assembly in my 1990 Dodge Caravan, and it worked at first, only there was no air coming out of the vents, though I could hear the blower motor running. So, I took the entire heater core/ ac core housing out to find the detached hose. I found it, and re-attached it, but now that I've got everything back together again, it doesn't seem to want to work at all. Instead, when I turn the switch to "on" other crazy stuff happens. Like all the gauges on the dash board go to max, the lights turn on, the emergency flashers start to blink, the chimes start to go off, and in one instance the rear window wiper blade actually started to move. I've checked the wires countless times, and it doesn't look like I connected anything wrong. What gives?

Has anyone else had this problem?

What could I be doing wrong?

Travis
