Default How To: Replacing EGR valve

These part numbers are valid for 2001 caravan with 3.3V6.
You will need 04861537AA EGR valve, 05277928 small gasket on valve to tube, 04891068AB on valve, and 04663247AB on intake manifold to tube. You will need an 8mm and 10mm socket. Removal is simple and quick. I changed mine to get rid of codes P0401 and P0403. The codes will have to cleared by somebody with a scanner. You can also break up any carbon that may see in the manifold and suck it out so that it doesn't block a valve.

Default RE: How To: Replacing EGR valve

Hi
Is it OK to blank off the EGR valve? do you guys do this in the US?
Its a common mod. on loads of cars over here in the UK as our anual test is only for CO &HC not Nox [this is what i understand the EGR valve reduces]
We normaly remove a pipe and its gasket then make a solid plate to replace the gasket. anything to block the flow of exhaust gas to the inlet!
Beifits are, 1. Better gas mileage. 2. better low end pulling power. 3. reduction of 'flat spots' during accleration. 4. Lower HC & CO emmisions

Any ideas???
Gareth

Default RE: How To: Replacing EGR valve

Well, i've done it! [blanked the valve off] Underneath the throttle body there is a pipe going into the underside of the housing, i just undid the 2 bolts, slipped out the gasket and made a thin metal plate up to the same dimentions. i used exhaust putty to seal it both sides.

Not been out for a drive yet, i'll let you know whats it's like

3 days later, seems OK not driven it myself but Helen [My Wife] reports that its going OK.
