Yep...reason for high R'sis youonly have 2nd gear (chrysler limp mode). You can temporarily clear that by removing ground from battery . If it's a major sensor fault, you'll end up in limp again in short order. Whining noises can be from slippage of the clutch packs or the transmission pump or torque converter. The fact that it changed pitch with speed would lead me to converter or pump. For $12filter kit and $20 (atf +4) fluid, I'd drop the pan and do a tranny service first. (Simple but messy..10mm socket and screwdriver are all you need besides lots of rags to wipe the fluid from your arms as it drains (have a pan ready)) What you see in the pan, filter and on the magnet can tell you a lot.. Keep us aware of what you find.

thanks that sounds like i might be heading down the right road before i read what u wrote i called autozone to get a price on a scanner and i told him what was going on and he said it sounds like the torque convertor to him to but i think i.m still going to drop the pan to see what's in side. oh by the way i did put a new filter in it last summer i didn't see any thing in there that caught my eye but then it was running good to then //lol

p.s auto zone scanner is a $170 deposit shawn

Most auto parts stores have ones you can scan with there. Keep in mind with chrysler, the serious tranny stuff is on it's own computer and can't be pulled with the basic scanners. Basic ones will give speed sensor info and such which is fed to the main computer. Last year on a filter is a long time with a chrysler tranny...... good luck

1782 has something to do with a pressure circuit for shift points. Make sure when upto temperature your fluid levelis correct as this can be set by a lowfluid situation. This code (and a couple others) can also be set after driving in limp mode for several miles. A tech friend of mine said service the tranny and clear the codes. If this code still comes up check (clean or replace speed sensor) and then maybe the solenoid shift pack. It might not hurt to have a "quick learn" procedure done by a shop to retrain the computer for tshift pressures and shift points. First off though change filter and fluid and clear the codes and go from there.

Pull ground from the battery for 2mins. I have had the experience of "hard" tranny codes not always clearing by by this method, but it should work.
