Intermittent Brake Issue
Hello All! I purchased a '17 Grand Caravan about 1.5 years ago and I am having an issue where it sounds like the ABS is intermittently (and very quickly) engaging and disengaging during normal braking. I've taken it in several times to the dealership and even test drove it with the service tech, and of course it never does it with them in the car. It will go weeks without doing it, but then it can happen 1-3 times in a quick drive. It's just bothering me more than its worrying me.
I had new rotors and pads put on when I purchased it by the CDJR Dealership. I just changed out the pads just to see if it would make a difference and got it three times in one drive two days later.
At a loss here, any thoughts and guidance would be appreciated.

I have a 2012, and sometimes I hear a noise that sounds like an ABS pump activating during braking, but I don't feel it and it's much quieter than when I know it activates during the winter when I am braking on ice. I'm not sure if you are experiencing the same symptom as me, or if yours is strong, true and actual ABS activation?

Where is this wheel sensor?

Are saying you had this issue when the van was still under warranty? If so ask for your vehicle warranty claim report from the dealer they are obliged to give it to you and it would list every warranty claim ever charge to your vehicle and if you have an unresolved problem that stem from being under warranty that was never fixed the onus is still on them to repair the issue. If they refuse bring right to the top with FCA.

A good mechanic can put an o-scope on and see the signals that each wheel speed sensor is sending and compare them. Usually a weak signal will trigger your abs and can be caused by corrosion or debris on a sensor. It can also be caused by a damaged tone ring ( the part the sensor is reading), which would also show up on an o-scope. It is likely a weak signal causing your problem, because if it were a bad sensor, the abs light would be triggered. Cleaning each sensor requires removing your brake calipers and backing plates to reach the sensors, and removing the sensor with a 4mm allen wrench, which is time consuming and labor intensive. An O-scope would point you to which wheel is causing the problem cutting the work into 1/4.
