Default 2003 3.3L intermittent misfire

Hi there

I have a 2003 3.3L Caravan with 98,000 KM on it. Recently I have noticed when starting in the morning the engine runs very rough but after a minute it smooths out and runs fine with no servive engine light being generated. On Wednesday it the service engine light came on and generated a P0301 code (#1 misfire) when the gas was pressed, but again it smoothed out after a minute and ran fine.

Has anyone experienced a similar type of problem?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks and by the way great website.

Replace the spark plugs and wires. There is a service bulletin from Chrysler that also involves reprogramming the PCM.

sorry to revive a dead post, but is the previously mentioned TSB required after a tune up?

I'm getting ready to do a tune up on my friends 03, after reading the posts on spark plugs it looks like I will be removing the intake (if necessary) then the plugs.

does anyone have any advice for thermostats, I figured I might as well change that out while I'm under there.

you dont have to remove the intake at all...just reach around the drivers side of the intake and squeeze youhand and arm over the intake or passenger side of intake to guide the socket...it is much faster to do that...and when removing the plugs check for carbon tracking on them(black lines on the end of top of the spark plug...if so replace the wires too...or the plugs wont last long...
