Default EGR and E-85

I've recently taken a 3k mile trip. Periodically my check engine light would come on and stay on for a while (sometimes several days).
The only code is an EGR code and the motor seems to run fine with no rough idle and such. This might be coincidental or not, but we did use E-85 gas in a few states and am wondering if that could have an effect on the EGR system (solenoid or valve)? The last 600 miles with regular gas it never came on. We got 23-25 mpg (really loaded down) on my 97 caravan that has 130k miles on it. Anyone else have similar results with e-85? Thanks, Jim
