'02 Grand Caravan Sport Shimmy
I really appreciate this forum and the massive amount of information in it, and I have a question that I hope can be answered.
Our Caravan has a shimmy that is felt from 45 mph and upward. The harder you accelerate the more noticeable it is. It is really obvious in the center console between the driver's andpassenger's seats. As you accelerate the console will vibrate side to side so much that the contents rattle like its going to come apart from the base it sits on......I mean it is really bad.
We have replaced the following parts: bothcomplete cv axles (with brand new units, not remans), struts, shocks, anti-sway bar links and bushings, the tires have been rotated (to rule out a bad tire)and balanced (more than once),the front end has been aligned, andthe motor mounts have been replaced(which were supposedly bad).
The vibration or shimmy is feltentirelyin the floorboard. I don't feel any vibration or shimmy in the steering wheel. There might be some resistance in the steering, but I believe it's caused by the rest of the van shaking so violently.
TheDodge dealer we've been dealing with told me todaythat they have "no idea" what could be causing the van to do this, and have searched for days at a time to try and discover the reason for it. They are at the point of replacing parts to see if it could be fixed, but I don't know what else could be replaced in the frontend.....unless we replace everything else that hasn't already been replaced....which wouldn't be much, because practically everything has been replaced already[:@].
As if you couldn't tell I'm very discouraged with this Dodge product............
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

RE: '02 Grand Caravan Sport Shimmy
Have you learned anything yet? I have an '05 Caravan with the same problem. The shaking is throughout the van from 55 mph on up. There is no vibration in the steering wheel though. I'm also thinking bad bearing or maybe a tire problem. Just put new tires on about 2 weeks ago.
