Default speedo/odometer/fuel/temp gauge problems

my 2001 grnd caravan has no speedo/tach/fuel/temp/all warning working. only cluster illumination lights(after bulb replacement) work. 1st it was speedo and odometer that stopped from what I thought was a pinched wire before plug going to cluster. after straightening wire speedo worked but no odometer. some of the illumination lights were burned out and after replacing these bulbs I have lost allgauges and warning lights as stated above. does any one have wiring diagram? the plug to cluster has 11 wires but there are about 17 gauges and warning lights thatwork off 11 wires. any ideas?? help!!!! thanks jason

well my friend welcome to the new age of electrical. The resion why u have only 13 wires and 1 connector is because all of the cluster guages and such are controled over a PCI bus system 1 wire for all of that just like in a computer. The PCM or TCM will bus out info and be picked up by the Cluster and display on the guages what the info from the PCM is saying.
The lights are controled by a BCM inside. So from what u have said thus far I would say u have a bad insterment cluster. Dont confuse this with an older style printed ckt board where there are posts to where u can repair them this is not the same setup.
Humm the cluster will haft to be ordered and the miles programed into the cluster by flight systems in CA if i remember right.
It will be a costly part though.

hey dodge tech thanks for the reply. i thought i would try switching cluster with a friends 2002 to see if i could isolate the prob. I suppose if the switch wrks, my cluster would be bad and need replacing. do the bone yards sell these and would they work in mine without reprogam? jason

I would not swich stuff out like that ne more not like the old days. If u do that with an 02 u will program the vin number into something that the car may not like. and no a reprogram will ne needed inorder for u to have the correct milage displayed on the cluster. if u get a junk yard one it will have that milage and the calibration will more than likely be off as far as the van is like u maybe doing 60 and the cluster shows 50 or 70. All of that info is based off tire size and cluster points. I have been a Chrysler tech for 11 years now and have only seen bad stuff happen when some one just switches stuff with the computers in it from 2000 on up. Might end up buying 2 or 3 different computers if u do that.

Pull the IOD fuse for 3 minutes and reinsert and see if that helps ...
